Tonight, learn all about the MCBA’s wax dipping program. Mark Antunes, our past president and Beginning Beekeeping course educator, will provide the when, why, and how to participate in the association’s wax dipping program. Now in its 3rd year of operation, more and more members are taking advantage of this valuable program. We all pay a premium for wooden ware, so why not take advantage of this relatively quick and inexpensive way to protect it?
Next we will hear from Emma Mullen via webinar. She is the Honey Bee Extension Associate at Cornell University and is passionate about communicating scientific research to beekeepers and working with them to implement best management practices that will improve colony health. Her main educational programs are the Cornell University Master Beekeeper Program and the NYS Beekeeper Tech Team. Her presentation, “Effectively Managing Varroa”, explores how beekeepers in the Northeast can gain control over the most destructive parasite currently plaguing honey bees. Through this talk, beekeepers will learn about Integrated Pest Management, current tools and treatments available for mite control, and how to design their own mite management plan.
Also, Steve Finke, will again be available to deliver pre-ordered beekeeping supplies. He is the owner of Meadow View Beekeeping, LLC. , Kutztown, PA and his apiary/honey packing facility in Bethel, PA. His company offers beekeeping hardware and supplies through dealerships with Brushy Mountain Bee Farm and Mann Lake, LTD., Gambler Container Inc., and much more. Be sure to call Steve to place your order in advance (tel 610-737-7676), then pay at the time of pick-up after the meeting and save on shipping.
