 All speakers will present via zoom, so everyone will also have the option of attending via zoom if you do not wish to attend in person. NO MEETINGS WILL BE RECORDED . No drinks or snacks will be provided, but you may bring something for yourself.

Mini Presentation:

Rich Hiltner will speak in person about Small Hive Beetle Combat.  Rich will present different methods of controlling small hive beetles in our apiaries.

Main Topic: Priya Chakrabarti Basu

Talk title: The many facets of honey bee nutrition

Brief bio: Priya Chakrabarti Basu is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Entomology and Plant Pathology at Mississippi State University and holds a courtesy faculty appointment at Oregon State University. Priya studies the interactive impacts of multiple stressors on bee pollinators, for example poor nutrition, pesticides and climate change. She uses a wide array of multidisciplinary techniques such as physiology, toxicology, functional biology, multiomics-based approaches and neuroethology.

She is currently serving as the Secretary/Treasurer of the American Association of Professional Apiculturists, the Chair of the Early Career Professionals Committee of the Entomological Society of America and the North American Chair of bee nutrition taskforce for COLOSS, the international bee organization. In addition to the research community, Priya enjoys working with stakeholders, policymakers and the general community in protecting bee pollinators and raising pollinator awareness. Priya enjoys teaching bees to the students at MSU. Priya is also a children’s book author to help spread pollinator awareness among young readers. Serving Montgomery, Bucks and surrounding counties in Pennsylvania, the MCBAPA is an association of hobbyist and professional beekeepers. Our mission is to provide education, hands-on training, support and fellowship in all aspects of beekeeping. Both experienced beekeepers and novices participate in our monthly meetings, field trips and social events.This is a good spot to place your secondary navigation gadget, like Navigation links, or Secondary menu.

General membership meetings are usually held the 4th Thursday of the month at 7 pm, but please check our calendar.
